“Climate change is just a hoax”, “Migrants will steal our land” and “Vaccination with Astrazeneca will make you infertile” - you probably heard some of these statements in your surrounding but never knew what to do about it. This seminar will help you navigate these types of situations.

About the training

Fake news, anti-democratic or racist statements are not a new phenomenon. However, with the rise of the internet, there are more sources and they spread more easily. This is a threat to our democracy because hate speech, fake news and conspiracy create an atmosphere of fear and insecurity. We want to counter that! Within this seminar, you will learn about the consequences of fake news, to detect fake news and several other ways of false or misleading information like clickbaits, tabloids etc. We will also talk about strategies for fighting against fake news and practice ways of encountering hate speech and anti-democratic slogans.
