Set sails and embark with us on a sailing journey this summer! Together with a group of young people and with the guidance of an experienced captain, we will explore the Baltic Sea. Of course, we will also deal with important social issues.

About the event

Together with a group of young people and with the guidance of an experienced captain, we will sail across the southern Baltic Sea on a traditional sailing ship. Of course, we will also deal with important social issues. The first night we will all meet in Lübeck. You will have time to get to know each other, explore the city and enjoy a dinner at a local restaurant. On the next day we will go by bus to Wolgast where we will enter the boat. Wolgast is a small town in the north-east of Germany not far from the Polish border. The area offers a beautiful sailing area with calm seas and small ports. The next days you will spend on board. Under the guidance of an experienced captain you will learn everything that is necessary to sail a big traditional ship. While sailing you will be divided in small groups that are in charge of different parts of the sailing experience. Furthermore you will perform all other tasks as a group like preparing the meals, cooking, cleaning etc.

Furthermore we will adress and discuss important social issues. While doing so you will also brainstorm what the society but also you on an individual level can do in order to make this place a better world.

Lastly you will have plenty of time to take a swim, chill in the sun, play games and explore the ports nearby (if the weather allows).

Our final destination will probably be Saßnitz (- a small town on the island Rügen. From there you can either take a bus with us back to Lübeck or take a train home.

About the boat

Our boat will be a gaff cutter with beds for up to 22 people. It is called "Rennkutter Nobile" and has been launched in 1919 in England. It is 38,50m long and has one mast. You can find more information about the ship and crew on the website of the organization which is running the ship.

Important update (23.06.2022):
NEW: Our start and end port for the sail will be WISMAR!
(instead of Wolgast/Saßnitz)

However we still meet in Lübeck July 6 for the check-in, welcome/introduction, getting to know each other and a joint evening.
Please check your mails for further updates.
