About Maryam:

Datteltäter Academy is a fellowship program for young BIPOC content creators who show promise in the creative field. The initiative highlights the work of young content creators contributing to social discourse, with a focus in Germany. In addition to providing a platform for their work, the program also prepares young creators to continue producing high quality work through targeted mentorship and a rigorous workshop series. As part of the program, fellows will produce a final project tackling a social issue of their choosing.

About speech:

In this workshop, I will present the newest project from Datteltäter called Datteltäter Academy. I will walk everyone through the process of building a program focused on BIPOC content creators, and why a program like this is so important today. I'll begin by explaining how the original idea came together, followed by my role as project manager, and what skills were required to execute this project. From brainstorming, to pitching, to recruiting fellows I will briefly explain how it's possible to successfully execute a project (with the idea of building the plane while it's flying). For many of us, this is our first time working on a project like this, which has made it all the more exciting. Finally, I'll close with the importance of building community with the resources available to us right now.
