Council members represent their member organisations and meet approximately four times a year to debate proposals of the Board. The Council Coordinating Organisation – the legal representation of the SAME Council – coordinates and chairs the meetings and the work of the Council. Furthermore, the Council Coordinating Organisation mediates between member organisations. It is responsible for submitting a report about the Council's activities to the Board before the General Assembly and presenting the activities of the Council at the General Assembly.
