Benny Hofer's mechanical sequencer works on a simple loop principle. He uses the constant rotation of an axis to drive a drum kit and other instruments.
The ability to intervene with your hands in the running mechanics and thus in the rhythm, pick up drum sounds and change them with effects, is the fun with this machine. However, there is no data storage: the beats are edited, looped and broken live. Synthesizers are triggered by rotating punch cards via switchable sliding contacts, which corresponds to a MIDI-capable organ organ. So sound surfaces and bass lines overlap the rhythm of the machine. The listener easily escapes the fact that the driving force of the music is fed by an electric motor. Have fun!
